Parent Expectations- (Players in Grades 3 through 6)
1. Be on time! Coaches are volunteering their time to teach your child and organize a team. Please respect their time & efforts.
2. If you cannot attend a practice or a game, give the coach as much notice as possible in order that he can plan for your child’s absence and how (s) he may have to change practice or game plans.
3. Stay with and supervise your child(ren) at games. N.A.B.A. is not a babysitting service. If you must leave your son/daughter, leave ONLY the son/daughter who is playing and inform the coach. Return promptly. Coaches have lives and commitments outside of N.A.B.A. It is unfair to expect them to wait around after the game or practice is over until you arrive. In extreme circumstances or continual abuse, the player may be excused from the team without refund.
4. Siblings of players cannot attend practices. Siblings of players who are attending games MUST sit in the stands and WATCH the games. They are not to be in the hallways of the school without parental supervision. Do not leave other children at a game. It is unreasonable to expect a coach who is working with a team or a sibling who is playing on a team to supervise another child.
5. Model and emphasize good sportsmanship and responsible behavior with your child. Your child is there to have fun and compete in a safe and respectful atmosphere. Foul language, disrespect for any coach, basketball official, N.A.B.A Official or school personnel will not be tolerated. You are responsible for any damage caused by your child to school or N.A.B.A. Property. Please make your child aware that N.A. students will be held accountable to the N.A. Code of conduct distributed by the schools for their actions on North Allegheny School District sites.
6. If you have a coaching/playing concern with the coach of your team, please ask them to discuss your concern with you a day or two after the game. Coaches, players and parents are usually competitive and emotional. Give a reasonable amount of time for emotions to cool and rational thoughts to prevail.
7. If you have a concern for the safety of any player, please notify the coach immediately.
8. Make your coach aware of any physical limitations that your child may have. N.A.B.A. encourages parents to consult with their own private physicians to determine if a child should have restrictions in playing time or activities. Asthma, heart murmurs, or other physical conditions, which may impair a player’s ability to participate safely, need to be brought to the attention of the coach. Inhalers or other medication need to be available are the parent’s responsibility to provide and administer. Extreme actions may be cause for dismissal from the team for the season without refund.
Player Expectations- (All Players Grade 3 through 12)
1. Be on time and respectful of your coach and teammates. Your coach is there to provide instruction and organization.
2. You are accountable for your actions according to the N.A. Code of Conduct. You are using North Allegheny facilities. Both the North Allegheny Basketball Association and the North Allegheny School District may address a violation of the N.A. Code of Conduct.
3. If you cannot attend a practice or a game, give the coach as much notice as possible in order that he can plan for your child’s absence and how (s) he may have to change practice or game plans.
4. Let your coach know of any physical conditions, which may impair your ability to play. If you have an inhaler or medication to assist you during a game, it is your responsibility and or your parent’s responsibility to have it available and use it appropriately during a game or practice.
5. If you have a safety concern, let your coach know immediately.
6. Come to practice and games ready to play, learn and have fun. Don’t take winning and losing too seriously. No player has won or lost every game in their lifetime. The best players know how to both win and lose with class.
7. Be respectful of game officials, opposing coaches and players. Foul language or gestures, unsportsmanlike conduct or disrespect for coaches, game officials, N.A.B.A. officials or school personnel will not be tolerated. Extreme actions may be cause for dismissal from the team for the season without refund.
